The top seeds have advanced through to Round 3 of the Billabong Rio Pro 2013, surfed in three-to-five foot (1 – 1.5 metre) waves, at Barra da Tijuca.

Kelly Slater, 41, returned to Rio de Janeiro, after a 2012 absence due to a foot injury. The iconic natural-footer was completely dominant in his Round 1 clash.

“Based on the years prior, I thought last year was going to be turns and maneuvers and there were a lot of barrels. I had stitches in my heel last season and could probably have attended if it was just barrels, but I couldn’t really do turns with the stitches in my heel. Lesson learned and I’m here this year”, reveals Slater.

April 2013 Tommy Golsby-Smith (11 years old) and his Dad headed to Indo for a father son surf Trip. Started at Balian, then went across to Lombok where Tommy had an accident in the surf. he will be back in September to finish the trip and film him getting barreled off his head. Good times!
